Effective mentoring programmes are recognized all over the world as an important platform where ideas are shared and knowledge transferred for youth development. In the words of a foremost American thespian Denzel Washington” show me a successful individual, and I’ll show you someone who has had a real positive influence in their life – a mentor.”

For some of the boys, the transition to adulthood has been particularly daunting, some have become victims of substance abuse and crime. Others perform poorly in school, while some regress to depression at a very young age.
Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel, the founder of FEYReP, has written her name in gold through her numerous acts of kindness and care towards the elderly people, women, girl child, physically challenged and the less privileged in the state.

Anchored by Mrs Ime Inyang, the mentoring train has visited schools across the three senatorial districts of the State with more still to come. On why the campaign was birthed, she had these to say: “The FEYReP girl’s mentorship program is aimed at deepening the lessons of the FEYReP’s advocacy program tagged, GIRLS UPHOLD YOUR DIGNITY by partnering women successful women who serve as mentors to inspire the girls to go for their goals”.

The programme usually features pep talk, lively interactive discussions that give the youngsters opportunities to learn from the feats of their mentors. According to Ime Inyang, “the mentors are carefully selected women of proven worth in chosen field who have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields and as such considered worthy of imparting the mentees.”
