At the flag off event on the Monday the 30th of October 2023, the founder of FEYReP and wife of former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Martha Udom Emmanuel (Ph.D), expressed her heartfelt appreciation to everyone who graced the occasion. She extended her gratitude to her fellow Oruk Anam community members, esteemed dignitaries from near and far, and the dedicated medical team of over 26 individuals who travelled from the United States to offer their skills and services with boundless love and compassion. Dr. Martha Emmanuel emphasized that this endeavour was born out of her deep concern for the many individuals who thronged her office daily seeking medical assistance for various ailments.
The Coordinator of FEYReP, Dr. Idorenyin Ekanem in her address, welcomed attendees to the flag off of the event, she emphasized the significance of the collaboration, especially in providing free medical care and promoting the values of volunteerism, compassion, and love for the sick in the community.
Dr Mary Udoh the Chief Medical Director of General hospital Ikot Okoro, commended Dr. Martha Emmanuel for her unwavering commitment, which includes the commissioning of the hospital and her passion for the well-being of children, pregnant women, and orphans. She offered heartfelt blessings for Dr. Martha Emmanuel, her husband, her organisation FEYRePand all those involved in the noble undertaking.
Also at the event, the Head of Medical Team, Dr. Asuquo Inyang, on behalf of the World Surgical Foundation, USA., donated medical equipment the Ikot Okoro General Hospital, while stating the hope that the donations will play a crucial role in improving surgical procedures at particularly in the field of Caesarean section operations in the hospital.
This collaboration between Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Path Initative (FEYReP) and the World Surgical Foundation USA reflects the unwavering commitment of the organisation and her founder Her Excellency, Dr. Martha Emmanuel, towards ensuring a healthy and prosperous Akwa Ibom community.
