Women play very important roles in our economy. Over 60% of the food produced in Akwa Ibom state is done by women either by farming or food processing.
Our state is rich in cassava, rice, seafood, oil palm etc. However the tedious and time consuming procedures involved in food processing greatly hampers economic development of rural farmers and leads to post harvest loses.
In a bid to support rural families and boost the businesses they do, FEYReP built trade specific factories across Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. These factories included
Aside from building factories to help process farm and agricultural produce, FEYReP equally embarked on a large scale agricultural project, with its over 80 Hectare cassava farm in Okobo Local Government Area, a 17 hectare cassava farm in Onna Local Government and another cassava plantation in Ini Local Government Area. This FEYReP did with the aim of producing enough garri (a cassava by product) which is a staple food in Akwa Ibom State, to mitigate a rising food cost crisis.
FEYReP has so far undertaken interventions in remodeling rural markets to give these markets a face lift, by building permanent structures to replace the makeshift shacks which previously existed, aside from providing open stalls and lock-up shops to the traders who daily used these markets, other non existent infrastructure such as toilets, access to water (boreholes) etc.
FEYReP has also instituted a Multipurpose Cooperative Society (MPCS) to empower rural women through the issuance of interest-free loans. The Multipurpose Cooperative society is a novel Idea premised on the sole aim of improving the living conditions of women at the grassroots. So far the MPCS has in three separate phases reached out to five thousand (5000) identifiable beneficiaries.
