Abstain From Premarital Sex, Governor’s Wife Tell Teenage Girls

The wife of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Her Excellency, Dr. Martha Udom Emmanuel has cautioned teenage girls in public secondary schools across the state against indulging in premarital sexual escapades, encouraging them to uphold high moral dignity by being focused on their education.

She added that this way they will grow to become useful and productive citizens of the state and nation.
Dr. Emmanuel spoke at a one-day sensitization seminar for girls in public secondary schools organized by her non-governmental platform, Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Path-initiative FEYReP.
At the event themed: “Decide, Protect, and Conquer”, the governor’s wife noted that abstinence remains the only option for the girls at this formative stage of their lives.
She said the campaign was initiated to design a new future for the Akwa Ibom Ibom girl child, stating that her resolve has always been to mentor and groom the girl-child on the right path to success.
“Do not succumb to peer-pressure, be self-conscious and have self-control over what you crave or desire. Your future lies in your hands and as such you must make use of it properly,” she remarked.
On rape and other gender based violence, she advised the female students to be cautious of sexual predators in their respective areas and do well to report to authorities in case of any abuse.
