FEYReP’s Light Up Africa Through the Lens of Children Project Implementation in Cross River State, Nigeria.

The Family Empowerment and Youth Re-orientation Path-initiative (FEYReP)’s Light Up Africa Though the Eyes of Children project proceeded to Cross River State, Southern Nigeria, as FEYReP embarked on the distribution of solar lamps to students in the rural communities of the state. This served as a dual strategy for mitigating climate change and enhancing academic opportunities for the in-school students in the selected communities of the state. The light up Africa Project Lamp distribution in Cross River’s State rural schools represents a commendable effort to tackle climate change while simultaneously improving educational opportunities and outcomes. By combining environmental sustainability with academic empowerment, FEYReP aims to create a lasting positive impacts in the communities of the South – South Geopolitical Zone of Nigeria.

Light Up Africa through the lens of children project is implemented by FEYReP in partnership with partnership with KUCOIN, Griffin Consulting FZCO and African partners WIRE-A and Smiling Simon Greenbuild Foundation. 

The FEYReP team paid visits to schools in Cross River State on the 12th and 13th of February 2024.

The Schools visited were, the Unity Secondary School, Ababene, Obubra, the Community Secondary School, Okuni, Ikom and the Army Day Secondary School, Ebrutu Barracks, Ikot Ansa, Calabar for the distribution of 300 solar lamps to respective students in these schools. The schools were delighted to be selected as beneficiaries of this project and this was expressed by the head students in the schools as they delivered their speech of thank you to the project team which was headed by FEYReP’s Coordinator, Dr. Idorenyin Ekanem.
